KATHMANDU: The MG 4X electric crossover has revealed its core specifications in China during the domestic homologation process. The new SUV is being developed for global markets and is expected to compete with models such as the BYD Atto 3.
The MG 4X measures 4.5 meters in length and offers a maximum power output of up to 150 kW (201 hp).
Reports suggest the vehicle could feature a liquid-solid battery pack similar to the MG4 Electric hatchback. The crossover targets the high-volume compact SUV segment and is expected to offer a smart cockpit developed in partnership with Oppo, along with the Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) driver-assistance system.
The MG 4X is a compact crossover with dimensions of 4,500 mm in length, 1,849 mm in width, and 1,621 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,735 mm, making it around 45 mm longer than the BYD Atto 3.
The SUV rides on 18-inch wheels and features approach and departure angles of 18 and 24 degrees, respectively. Its curb weight ranges between 1,640 kg and 1,755 kg, while the gross vehicle weight is between 2,076 kg and 2,191 kg depending on the variant.

In terms of design, the MG 4X follows the brand’s latest styling language. It features a closed front grille with a large lower air intake and slim headlights connected by an LED light strip. The rear design includes a single taillight unit and a small roof spoiler. The crossover uses conventional door handles and offers optional features such as a sunroof and multiple wheel designs.
The entry-level MG 4X is powered by a synchronous permanent magnet electric motor producing 125 kW (168 hp). This motor is manufactured by United Automotive Electronic Systems, a joint venture between SAIC Motor and Bosch.
A more powerful version of the MG 4X will use another synchronous permanent magnet motor producing 150 kW (201 hp).
Details about the battery capacity have not yet been disclosed. However, vehicles submitted for sales approval are reported to use an LFP battery pack.
More details about the MG 4X are expected to be announced soon. The electric crossover is likely to make a public debut at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show 2026.
