KATHMANDU: Mercedes-Benz has offered an early preview of its upcoming all-electric sedan, the C-Class EQ, ahead of its global debut scheduled for next month.
The model marks the brand’s entry into the mid-size electric sedan segment and is expected to compete with rivals such as the Tesla Model 3. It is also the first time the company is electrifying its core C-Class lineup.
The C-Class EQ is based on the brand’s new 800V MB.EA platform, making it the second model to adopt this architecture. It will be offered with multiple battery options ranging from 64 kWh to 94 kWh, with a claimed driving range of over 435 miles (around 700 km).

In terms of design, the prototype, tested at the company’s Immendingen facility in Germany, features a more upright front profile, lower stance, steeper rear glass for improved aerodynamics, and a longer wheelbase with a wider track to enhance cabin space.
Early driving impressions indicate a strong balance between comfort and performance, with minimal body roll, good front-end grip, and the availability of rear-wheel steering for better handling.

The cabin is reported to remain quiet even on rough roads, with improved insulation and refined suspension tuning to absorb bumps effectively. Despite the added weight of the electric drivetrain, engineers have focused on maintaining the traditional comfort of the C-Class while improving overall driving dynamics.
The model arrives as competition in the segment intensifies, with upcoming rivals including the BMW i3 Neue Klasse and the Audi A4 e-tron. With its new platform, extended range, and focus on refinement, the C-Class EQ is expected to play a key role in Mercedes-Benz’s growing electric vehicle portfolio.
