KATHMANDU: Chinese electric vehicles are pushing technology further once again. Some new models can now project full-color movies directly from their headlights.
At the Beijing Auto Show, Huawei introduced the newest version of its XPixel smart headlight system. The technology works like a built-in projector at the front of the car. Owners can park near a wall and enjoy movies or shows outdoors.
XPixel has already been used in several Chinese vehicles over recent years. It also supports smart driving functions such as guiding lane changes, showing crossing signals for pedestrians, and projecting games for children.
The latest full-color version will first debut in the Aito M9. Huawei also plans to bring it to more future models, including the Qijing GT7 and Luxeed V9.
While many traditional automakers are still focused on basic adaptive lighting and standard LED upgrades, Chinese brands are turning headlights into multifunction entertainment and safety systems.
This is another example of how Chinese EV makers continue to move faster than long-established global car manufacturers.
