KATHMANDU: Stellantis plans to develop a new Jeep SUV using a platform from Tata Motors. The upcoming model is expected to launch in 2028.

The SUV will be developed and manufactured in India through the Stellantis-Tata joint venture. The company aims to export the model to around 50 global markets.

Stellantis has partnered with Tata Motors for over 20 years. The company will use Tata’s platform, supply chain, and manufacturing scale to reduce costs and improve competitiveness. The move targets price-sensitive markets like India.

Gregoire Olivier, Head of Asia Pacific at Stellantis, said the new Jeep will be developed and assembled in India for global markets. He added that it will be one of five global products Stellantis is developing in Asia through local partnerships, according to media reports.

Stellantis already collaborates with Tata Motors at the Ranjangaon plant for engine production. The company now plans to expand this cooperation by leveraging shared technology and sourcing.

In India, Stellantis currently sells models under Jeep and Citroen brands. Jeep’s lineup includes Compass, Meridian, Wrangler, and Grand Cherokee. Citroen offers models such as C3, eC3, Basalt, Aircross, and C5 Aircross.
