KATHMANDU: The price of the Leapmotor B10 has been reduced by Rs 500,000 in the Nepali market following changes in EV taxation announced through the national budget.

Shangrila Motors, the official distributor of Leapmotor in Nepal, announced the new pricing during an event held on Sunday.

The B10, which was previously priced at Rs 5.999 million, is now available for Rs 5.499 million.

The price reduction comes after the government revised the method of calculating EV taxes and adjusted tax rates for certain electric vehicles. Earlier, the B10 was subject to 30 percent customs duty, 20 percent excise duty, 5 percent road construction tax and 13 percent VAT.

Under the new budget provisions, the SUV now attracts 20 percent customs duty, 20 percent clean energy-related tax, 5 percent road construction tax and 13 percent VAT.

The Leapmotor B10 is powered by a 160 kW rear-mounted electric motor that produces 240 Nm of torque and drives the rear wheels.

The SUV is now available with a 67 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP-rated driving range of 434 km on a full charge.

It supports 11 kW AC charging and DC fast charging of up to 168 kW. According to the company, the battery can be charged from 30 percent to 80 percent in around 20 minutes using a compatible DC fast charger.

The B10 measures 4,515 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm.

In terms of features, the SUV comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS, LiDAR, a Snapdragon-powered infotainment system, a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting and a 12-speaker audio system.

Other highlights include a sunroof, leather seats with heating and ventilation functions, flush pop-out door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels and a spare tyre.
