KATHMANDU: The 2025 J.D. Power New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Product Quality Index has ranked Aito, Mercedes-Benz, and Tesla as the top three brands for overall quality, while BYD’s main brand placed slightly below the industry average.
The study covered 57 NEV brands and was based on feedback from over 5,700 owners who had owned their vehicles for 2 to 12 months.
Among individual models, Huawei-backed Aito M9 SUV, developed under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), emerged as the highest-quality model overall, spanning sedan, SUV, and MPV categories.
Mercedes-Benz secured second place with a Quality Risk Index score of 126, while Tesla ranked third with a score of 146.
China’s startup Nio’s premium brand Firefly also scored 146 points, matching Tesla’s Quality Risk Index. Xiaomi followed closely in fifth place with 147 points.
European brands BMW and Audi ranked sixth and seventh, with Quality Risk Index scores of 163 and 172 respectively.
The Nio brand placed eighth with 175 points, while Voyah secured ninth position with a score of 179. Avatar completed the top ten with a Quality Risk Index score of 180.
From 11th to 15th place, the rankings were held by Zeekr, Geely Galaxy, Li Auto, Stelato, and Great Wall Motors respectively.
