KATHMANDU: BMW’s all-electric M3 has been seen testing on public roads. BMWBlog shared new spy photos, revealing the production headlight design for the first time.

The model, codenamed ZA0, is built on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform. It features the brand’s signature double-tilted LED light strips, first shown on the Neue Klasse concept. The design gives the car a modern look and clearly separates it from the petrol-powered M3.

Power output is expected to be between 800 and 900 horsepower.

A key highlight is BMW’s new integrated control system called “Heart of Joy.” It combines steering, braking, acceleration, and traction control into one unit and is said to be 10 times faster than existing systems.

The interior will feature a 17.9-inch central touchscreen and BMW’s Panoramic Vision display with the iDrive X system. Important driving information will be projected onto the lower part of the windshield.

This generation also marks the end of BMW’s physical rotary control knob, with touch and voice controls taking over.

Production of the electric M3 is set to begin in March 2027, ahead of the electric X3 M (ZA5), which is expected to enter production in November 2027.

BMW plans to expand its electric M lineup by 2030. Future models could include the i3 Touring, an M version of the iX4, and an electric M4 Coupe, codenamed ZA2.
