KATHMANDU: Apple has officially launched CarPlay Ultra, its next-generation in-car system, debuting in new Aston Martin vehicles in the United States and Canada.
The advanced platform launched on Friday offers deep integration between the iPhone and a vehicle’s entire digital dashboard.
Unlike the previous version, the new platform extends control across all in-car screens, including the instrument cluster, allowing drivers to access and interact with speed, fuel level, tire pressure, temperature, navigation and media directly from their iPhone.
The CarPlay Ultra also supports control of climate settings, radio and vehicle-specific features like driving modes through onscreen menus, physical controls or Siri voice commands.
Bob Borchers, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, said the system takes CarPlay to the next level by fully integrating it deeply with car systems while preserving the brand’s unique design language.
Although currently exclusive to Aston Martin, Apple has confirmed that more automakers, including Hyundai, Kia and Genesis, are preparing to adopt the platform. A global rollout is expected over the next 12 months.
CarPlay Ultra requires an iPhone 12 or later running iOS 18.5 or newer.
