KATHMANDU: Indian electric two-wheeler maker Ather is set to launch a new scooter priced lower than its Rizta model. The company is unveiling its new scooter on August 30.

Ather Energy CEO Tarun Mehta shared on the social media platform X that the scooter will be built on a new EL platform. The scooter will be unveiled during its third Ather Community Day in Bengaluru on August 30, he added.

Based on the teaser of the upcoming model launched by Ather, the scooter is expected to feature a traditional, family-oriented design, with a relatively larger front fender.

While the teaser does not reveal many details, Ather has stated that the new EL platform will be low-cost and scalable, with some models designed specifically for export markets.

Ather currently holds the fourth position in India’s electric scooter market, with a 16% market share as of July 2025. Its family scooter, Rizta, has become the company’s best-selling model, crossing the 100,000-unit milestone in less than a year.

With the launch of new budget-friendly scooters on the EL platform, which are expected to be priced under 90,000, Ather is looking to expand its market share further.

Vaidya Energy represents Ather in Nepal. It launched the Rizta scooter in Nepal during the recently held NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo.
