KATHMANDU: Hyundai is testing a new Bayon-based crossover in India that is expected to be offered with both petrol and CNG powertrain options. The new model is likely to be positioned between the Venue and Creta in the brand’s SUV lineup.

According to reports, the crossover will be powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with either a manual transmission or a CVT automatic. Hyundai is also expected to introduce a factory-fitted CNG variant, featuring underbody-mounted CNG tanks while retaining a spare wheel.

Internally codenamed BC4i, the upcoming model is expected to be a crossover with hatchback underpinnings and a raised ride height. It is likely to feature dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails, and a shark-fin antenna, giving it a more SUV-like appearance.

The Bayon-based crossover is expected to slot between the Venue and Creta, targeting buyers looking for a practical compact SUV with multiple fuel options.
