KATHMANDU: Spy images of the updated BYD Atto 3 interior have surfaced in China, revealing a redesigned cabin ahead of its expected launch in May. The new model adopts BYD’s latest Dynasty family design language and brings a cleaner, more modern layout.
Compared to the current Atto 3, the new cabin looks more refined and simplified. The dashboard and center console now feature a horizontal design theme, giving the interior a wider and more spacious feel. Several bold styling elements from the current model appear to have been removed for a more premium look.
Although full infotainment and material details are yet to be revealed, the updated design shows BYD is moving towards a more unified cabin style across its lineup. This is similar to what is already seen in newer Dynasty series models.
The refreshed Atto 3 is also expected to receive major powertrain upgrades. Chinese regulatory data suggests it will be offered with 57.5 kWh and 68.5 kWh battery packs. These are claimed to deliver 540 km and 630 km CLTC range respectively.
The SUV is likely to use BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery. It is also expected to support fast charging. Reports claim the battery can charge from 10 to 70 percent in five minutes, and up to 97 percent in nine minutes under ideal conditions.
Another major change is the move to a rear-wheel-drive platform. The updated Atto 3 is expected to come with rear-mounted electric motors producing 200 kW and 240 kW. This marks a big shift from the current front-wheel-drive setup.
In terms of size, the new Atto 3 measures 4,665 mm in length and gets a 2,770 mm wheelbase. Exterior updates include a revised front fascia, slimmer headlights and a full-width rear light bar.
Sales of the Atto 3 in China have slowed down in recent months. However, the facelifted model could help revive demand with fresh styling and improved technology. Chinese media reports suggest the official debut may happen around May, possibly at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show.
