KATHMANDU: Lumin Mini electric car built by Chinese automobile giant Changan Automobile is all set to hit the Nepali market.

MAW Vriddhi, the authorized distributor for Changan and its electric brand Deepal, is planning to launch the Lumin during the 2025 NADA Auto Show.

The company had planned to launch the car in Nepali market about a year and half ago and had even published its price – Rs 2.199 million. MAW Vriddhi tested the car on the Nepali roads but decided against launching it as it lacked heater. Since the new model comes with several modifications and also includes a heater, MAW Vriddhi is finally launching it in Nepal.

While the company has not unveiled the price of the Lumin yet, an official of MAW Vriddhi said it won’t exceed the previously set price.

Lumin Mini EV supports DC fast charging and can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes.

Built on the EPA0  pure electric platform, the Lumin is a two-door EV that can comfortably accommodate four passengers. It boasts a stylish interior and several advanced features, including a three-spoke steering wheel, 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, reverse camera, mobile phone connectivity and voice control. In terms of size, the Lumin is comparable to other mini cars available in the market. It is 3,270 mm long, 1,700 mm wide and 1,545 tall, and has a wheelbase of 1,980 mm.

MAW Vriddhi believes Lumin’s distinct design and more powerful motor compared to its rivals will make it an attractive option for customers.

The car is equipped with a 35 kW motor and a 28.08 kWh CATL battery, which has been CLTC-certified to provide a range of up to 301 km on a full charge. The car also supports DC fast charging and can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes, according to the company.
