KATHMANDU: Imports of electric two-wheelers in Nepal have recorded strong growth in 2025, signaling renewed momentum in the segment.
While electric cars continue to dominate the EV market, electric scooters and mopeds, whose growth had slowed in recent years, saw a notable rebound this year.
According to customs data, two-wheeler EV imports increased by 32 percent in 2025. Total imports rose to 6,852 units, up from 5,172 units in 2024. This growth is largely driven by scooters and mopeds, while electric motorcycle imports remain minimal. Only 18 electric motorcycles were imported during the year.
Currently, around three dozen electric two-wheeler brands are present in the Nepali market. However, only a limited number of brands are importing vehicles in significant volumes. Data shows that just about a dozen brands imported more than 100 units in 2025.
The top 5 imports
Chinese brand Yadea emerged as the largest importer of electric two-wheelers in 2025, with a total of 1,030 units. Distributed by Kuzu Nepal Pvt. Ltd., the brand’s imports were dominated by electric scooters, with only two electric motorcycles included.
TVS secured the second position, doubling its imports year-on-year. Jagadamba Motors imported 881 units of the TVS iQube in 2025, compared to 441 units in 2024.

Indian brand Ather ranked third with 837 units. Although its imports remained close to last year’s level, the brand slipped one position due to slightly lower volumes. Ather scooters, including the 450 series and Rizta, are distributed in Nepal by Vaidya Energy.
The fourth position was taken by Green Power, driven mainly by electric mopeds. Around 700 pedal-assisted electric mopeds were imported in 2025, with strong demand seen in the Terai region.
Bajaj Chetak ranked fifth, with 440 units imported. The electric scooter is distributed by Hansraj Hulashchand & Company, Bajaj’s authorized distributor in Nepal.
Other notable EV brands
Beyond the top five, several other brands recorded healthy import volumes. Garow imported 439 units, Gogoro 336 units, and TAILG 262 units. Other brands such as Luyuan (207 units), Kaisai (154 units), and JEEHO (132 units) also maintained a presence in the market.
Overall, 2025 has been a positive year for electric scooters and mopeds in Nepal. However, electric motorcycles continue to see weak demand, suggesting that growth in the two-wheeler EV segment remains largely scooter-driven.
