KATHMANDU: The pickup truck market in Nepal, which slowed after the sales boom in 2021, is witnessing a gradual recovery.
MAW Vriddhi, which introduced the Foton Tunland E pickup in 2021, is gearing up for the launch of its upgraded model, the Tunland G7, in the Nepali market.
The new G7 measures 5,340 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width and 1,870 mm in height, and comes with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. Foton has equipped the G7 with a 1.5-liter turbo engine. The small yet powerful engine makes the G7 so efficient that the pickup can travel 100 kilometers with just 7.5 liters.
The engine produces 161 PS of power and 390 Nm of torque. It features a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox, with an option for a traditional 6-speed automatic.
Available with a four-wheel-drive option, the Tunland G7 offers four driving modes: two-wheel, auto, four-wheel and four-wheel low (4L).
The new pickup comes loaded with safety features like a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, lane change assist and a brake priority system. Six airbags, a high-strength steel body and a crash energy management system further enhance its safety profile.
There are more than 15 storage spaces in the cabin. Likewise, bionic seats with shoulder support, electric adjustments and fast-heating capabilities add to the riding comfort.
The G7 sports a four-way adjustable steering wheel, an 8-inch LCD instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch high-definition infotainment display.
