KATHMANDU: The Gandaki Province Government has decided to suspend the implementation of the recently introduced Gandaki Province Ride Sharing (Regulation and Management) Regulations, 2025 for a month.

The decision was made during a stakeholder meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday . The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey and representatives from the transport and ride-sharing sectors.

The regulation, introduced by the provincial government, had sparked strong opposition from transport entrepreneurs, who halted transport services across the country starting Monday. In response to the disruption, the federal government stepped in and held talks with transport entrepreneurs.

Following the negotiations, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers sent an official letter to the Gandaki Province, requesting a temporary suspension of the regulations to ease tensions.

The provincial government, acting on the letter, has agreed to put the regulations on hold for one month.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management in Gandaki Province will reconvene discussions with stakeholders. The aim is to reach a consensus within a month before moving forward with the implementation of any ride-sharing provisions.
