KATHMANDU : Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the retail prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene and aviation fuel, with the revised rates coming into effect from 12:01 am on August 3.
According to the state-owned fuel supplier, the adjustment follows the latest fuel procurement prices received from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on July 31.
Petrol has become Rs 3 per liter more expensive, while the prices of diesel and kerosene have been increased by Rs 5 per liter each. The price of domestic aviation fuel has also been raised by Rs 20 per litre.
For international aviation fuel, the price for flights departing from Kathmandu has been increased by US$131 per kiloliter. However, prices for international flights from Pokhara and Bhairahawa have been kept unchanged at the break-even point, according to the corporation.
Following the latest revision, the retail price of petrol and diesel has been fixed at Rs 200 per liter in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dipayal, Rs 199 per liter in Surkhet and Dang, and Rs 197.50 per liter in Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalwari, Nepalgunj and Birgunj.
The revised prices apply to fuel depots and retail outlets located within a 15-kilometer radius of NOC depots.
Despite the latest increase in fuel prices, LPG (cooking gas) has been kept unchanged at Rs 2,060 per cylinder (14.2 kg).
NOC said it continues to incur a monthly loss of around Rs 1.74 billion even after the latest price adjustment. The corporation attributed the losses to rising international petroleum prices and appealed to consumers to use petroleum products responsibly and conserve fuel wherever possible.
