KATHMANDU: Global battery consumption for electric vehicles (EVs) saw a significant increase of 37.3% in the first half of 2025.

According to data compiled by SNE, a South Korean market research company, total global EV battery usage reached 504.4 gigawatt-hours (GWh) during the period. This marks a year-on-year increase of 137 GWh compared to the same period in 2024, when global EV battery usage stood at 367.4 GWh.

The rise has been attributed to a sharp growth in electric vehicle production this year.
