KATHMANDU: Continental Trading, the authorized distributor of Kia in Nepal, is preparing to launch the Kia Syros EV in the domestic market ahead of the Dashain and Tihar festive season.
The company plans to introduce the 42 kWh Standard Range variant first, aiming to position the electric SUV competitively in Nepal’s fast-growing mid-price EV segment.
“We want the product to compete strongly with other EVs in the same segment. We have asked the manufacturer to offer a competitive package. The Syros EV is likely to arrive before the festive season,” Anish Lamichhane, General Manager of Continental Trading, told MeroAuto.
Although the company has not announced pricing, the Syros EV is expected to be positioned at around Rs 4 million, making it one of the more affordable electric SUVs in its class.
The Syros EV adopts Kia’s latest EV design language while retaining its compact SUV proportions. It offers 197 mm of ground clearance, a notable figure for a sub-four-meter SUV and well suited to Nepal’s road conditions.
Inside, the cabin is centered around Kia’s Trinity Panoramic Display, which combines two 12.3-inch screens with a 5-inch HVAC control display.
The infotainment system provides EV-specific functions, including battery status, energy consumption, remaining driving range, nearby charging station search, charging schedule management, and battery pre-conditioning.
The Syros EV comes standard with six airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.
Higher variants are equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), offering features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, forward and rear collision avoidance assist, and blind-spot monitoring.
The electric SUV is available with 42 kWh and 51 kWh battery packs, shared with the Hyundai Creta Electric. Both versions support 100 kW DC fast charging, allowing faster charging during long-distance travel.
