KATHMANDU: Hyundai has introduced the Crater, a new SUV concept that offers a look into the brand’s future off-road models.
The concept carries a bold and rugged design, signaling a tougher approach for the upcoming XRT series.

The Crater stands out with 33-inch off-road tires, skid plates, tow hooks and several auxiliary lights. Its body features a digital pixel camouflage pattern similar to the Ioniq 5 XRT.
Hyundai has also added a creative touch with a small character named “Crater Man,” placed on recovery hooks, exterior accents, seat belts and the dashboard.

The interior follows a fresh design direction. Instead of a traditional dashboard, the vehicle uses a cylindrical structure supported by straps.
Four small removable screens display different functions and can be taken out when needed. The cabin has a warm rust-orange glow, and the seats use soft, curved surfaces for a more comfortable feel.

Hyundai has confirmed that the Crater is fully electric. It is expected to share similar components with the Ioniq 5, which comes with an 84 kWh battery and a dual-motor layout.
Although Hyundai does not plan to produce the Crater in its current form, the concept highlights the possible direction of future XRT models.
Several elements from the Crater may inspire upcoming Hyundai SUVs, especially as the brand aims to enhance its off-road capability in the coming years.
