KATHMANDU : Jaecoo has introduced a more affordable version of the J5 electric SUV in Nepal. SPG Automobiles launched the short-range version at the ongoing NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026.
The new J5 Short Range is priced at Rs 5.199 million. Customers buying the SUV during the NAIMA Expo will receive a Rs 200,000 cash discount, bringing the offer price down to Rs 4.999 million.
The J5 was initially launched in Nepal at last year’s NAIMA Mobility Expo at Rs 6.099 million. The company had offered a Rs 400,000 discount at the time.
The new J5 Short Range features a 50.7 kWh battery pack. It retains the same 155 kW front-wheel-drive electric motor used in the long-range version.
The long-range J5 comes with a larger 58.9 kWh battery, while the motor output remains unchanged at 155 kW.
The J5 produces a peak torque of 288 Nm. Its design has a compact, premium appearance that has drawn comparisons with the Range Rover Evoque.
The new short-range version is aimed at making the J5 more accessible in Nepal’s growing electric SUV market, with its lower price being the key difference from the long-range model.
