KATHMANDU: JSW Motors Limited has partnered with Chinese automaker Chery to launch the Jetour T2 SUV in India. The model will be introduced as JSW’s first passenger vehicle in the Indian market, according to AutocarIndia.
The Jetour T2 will be sold under the JSW brand name and badge. It will be launched independently of JSW’s joint venture with MG, JSW MG Motor India.
The SUV will be locally assembled at JSW’s upcoming Greenfield manufacturing plant in Maharashtra. Market launch is expected in the third quarter of this year.
JSW plans to introduce the Jetour T2 with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. India will receive the T2 i-DM version powered by a 1.5-liter plug-in hybrid system. Both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions are available globally, although JSW has not confirmed which variant will be launched in India.

The Jetour T2 features a boxy and upright SUV design. It uses a mono-coque chassis rather than a ladder-frame structure. The SUV measures around 4.7 meters in length and about 2 meters in width, making it larger than the Tata Safari.
The India-spec model will be a five-seater. A longer seven-seat version is also sold in other markets. JSW has not announced pricing details for India.
Jetour is a brand owned by Chinese automaker Chery and was launched in 2018. The brand focuses mainly on SUVs and operates in China, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
