KATHMANDU: Residents of Lalitpur Metropolitan City using electric vehicles (EVs) will receive a 5% rebate on their property tax from the next fiscal year.
The metropolis announced the incentive through its budget for the fiscal year 2025/26.
“Lalitpur residents who use EVs will be eligible for a 5% discount on property tax if they apply for the rebate,” states the budget speech.
This is possibly the first instance of a local government offering property tax rebates to electric vehicle owners.
The metropolis has also announced concessions on fees and facilitation in building permits for those submitting viable proposals for managing public parking spaces in the city.
