Laxmi Premium expands BMW electric series with iX2

KATHMANDU: Laxmi Premium Motors, the official distributor of BMW in Nepal, has expanded BMW’s electric portfolio in Nepal with the launch of the third SUV in the iX series.

The iX2, which comes in a coupe design, features a 150 kW front-wheel-drive motor based on BMW’s eDrive 20 system. It is equipped with a 66.5 kWh battery pack, which offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 449 kilometers on a full charge. The vehicle supports an 11 kW AC charger or a 130 kW DC fast charger.

Inside, the iX2 boasts a dual curved screen layout, a head-up display, a Harman Kardon music system with 12 speakers, a panoramic glass roof and heated power front seats with memory function. It also features a wireless charger, automatic air conditioning, and rear AC vents for enhanced comfort for both the driver and passengers.

In terms of safety, the iX2 is equipped with seven airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, an integrated braking system, auto-hold, drive-off assist, dynamic brake control, multi-drive functions and high-beam assist.

The SUV features 19-inch double-spoke alloy wheels. While the car does not have a spare tire, there is a tire repair kit for emergencies.

The compact SUV measures 4,554 mm in length, 1,845 mm in width and 1,560 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,692 mm.

The iX2 competes directly with the Audi Q4 e-Tron Sportback, Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5 in the international markets.

The BMW iX2 will go on sale in Nepal from Monday. It is expected to cost around Rs 18 million.
