KATHMANDU: MG has launched the all-new MG4 electric vehicle at the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show in China.
The compact EV is available in five trims with prices ranging from USD 9,560 to USD 14,290. The top ‘Anxin Edition’, priced at USD 14,290, comes with a semi-solid-state battery and is expected to be delivered later this year.
The MG4 is built on SAIC’s E3 pure electric platform. It measures 4,395 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width and 1,551 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. The model offers a maximum CLTC range of 530 km and supports 30% to 80% fast charging within 20 minutes.
Inside, the MG4 is equipped with a digital instrument cluster and a central infotainment screen. Depending on the trim, the screen size ranges from 10.25 inches to 15.6 inches. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip powers the system, integrated with MG X OPPO Smart Connectivity.
Higher trims are provided with advanced driver assistance with 12 ultrasonic radars, four surround view cameras, an 8-megapixel front camera and a rear camera. These are supported by the Horizon Journey J6e chip, enabling functions such as lane keeping assist, lane change assist and intelligent parking.
The MG4 is powered by a six-in-one integrated electric motor producing 120 kW (161 hp) and 250 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 160 km/h.
Battery options include 42.8 kWh and 53.9 kWh LFP packs, offering ranges of 437 km and 530 km respectively. Both support rapid charging.
With a starting price below USD 10,000 and the addition of semi-solid-state batteries, MG4 is set to increase competition in the compact EV market, challenging rivals on price and technology.
