KATHMANDU: Skoda Kushaq production has officially commenced at the Chakan manufacturing facility in Pune, marking a new milestone for Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited. The updated SUV is scheduled to reach customers starting March 2026.
Built under the Group’s ‘Make in India, for India and the world’ strategy, the new Kushaq continues to be developed specifically for Indian driving conditions while also serving international markets. The model was originally introduced as the first product under the INDIA 2.0 program, focusing on high localization, reduced ownership costs, and faster production turnaround.
The updated version brings several feature upgrades aimed at improving comfort and convenience. Key additions include a segment-first rear seat massage function, a panoramic sunroof, and a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission option. The SUV also retains its strong safety credentials, offering up to 40 active and passive safety features along with a 5-star safety rating for occupant protection.
According to company officials, India now plays an increasingly important role in Skoda’s global manufacturing network, with the Pune plant supporting both domestic demand and export operations. The brand states that continuous improvements in production quality and localization have helped deliver feature-rich vehicles aligned with global standards.
The Kushaq remains a key growth driver for the Volkswagen Group in South Asia and contributed significantly to SAVWIPL’s record sales performance of 117,000 units in 2025. The refreshed model made its global debut in January 2026 and forms part of Skoda’s broader product expansion strategy planned for this year.
