KATHMANDU: Sipradi Trading, the authorized distributor of Tata Motors in Nepal, has sold a total of 8,592 electric vehicles (EVs) over the past five years.
The company began EV sales in 2021 and achieved this figure by the end of December 2025. The total includes both passenger and taxi segment models, with the Tigor EV taxi also contributing significantly to the numbers.

Currently, Tata offers five electric models in Nepal; Nexon EV, Punch EV, Curvv EV, Tiago EV, and Tigor EV. Except for the recently introduced Curvv EV, all models have recorded strong import and sales volumes.
Sipradi entered Nepal’s EV market in mid-2021 with the launch of the Nexon EV. Even before starting sales, the company installed 19 DC fast chargers across different regions, creating early momentum for electric mobility.
In 2021, 188 units of Nexon EV were imported. Imports surged to 1,301 units in 2022 and remained strong at 1,285 units in 2023. However, 2024 was relatively weak, with only 27 units imported.

With the arrival of the Nexon K3 variant in 2025, demand improved again. Sipradi imported 152 units last year. In total, Nexon EV imports reached 2,953 units over five years, making it the brand’s best-selling EV in Nepal.
The Tiago EV has emerged as the second most successful model after the Nexon. Launched in 2023, the electric hatchback helped revive the declining family hatchback segment.
Sipradi imported 824 units in 2023, followed by 1,098 units in 2024. In 2025, imports stood at 395 units. Over three years, Tiago EV sales totaled 2,317 units.

The Tigor EV, a compact sedan, entered Nepal in 2022 initially as a private vehicle. In its launch year, 149 units were imported.
From 2023 onwards, the model also gained popularity in the taxi segment. Imports reached 448 units in 2023, increased to 738 units in 2024, and further rose to 876 units in 2025.
Over four years, Sipradi imported and sold 2,211 units of the Tigor EV.
The Punch EV entered the Nepali market in September 2024. Despite its relatively short time in the market, it has recorded impressive numbers.

In 2024, 492 units were imported, followed by 529 units in 2025. Within about one and a half years, total imports reached 1,021 units.
The Curvv EV, Tata’s latest and most premium electric offering in Nepal, was launched in 2025. It is also the brand’s first coupe-style SUV.
However, import volume remains modest compared to other models. So far, only 90 units of the Curvv EV have been imported.
