KATHMANDU: Nepal’s automobile market now offers over 50 electric vehicle (EV) models priced from Rs 1.5 million to as high as Rs 40 million.

Luxury EVs from brands like Porsche, BMW, Audi and Tesla stand out at the higher end. However, they come with price tags above Rs 10 million. For buyers seeking a premium experience at a more affordable price, several options from brands like Hyundai, Kia, Zeekr, Xpeng, Avatr, Skywell and Smart are available in the range of Rs 8-15 million.

Here we present you with three premium electric SUVs that you can choose from. All three models offer a mix of performance, design and features, making them strong contenders for anyone looking for a premium electric SUV in Nepal.

Hyundai Ioniq 5
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a futuristic crossover known for its bold design and strong road presence. It features a 58 kWh battery and a 100 kW motor on the rear. The car can attain a speed of 185 km/h, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.5 seconds.

The Ioniq 5’s eco-friendly build features recycled materials, vegan leather seats, an adjustable centre console and a modern dashboard.

Laxmi Intercontinental represents the Hyundai brand in Nepal. Originally launched at Rs 8.2 million, the Ioniq 5’s price rose to Rs 11.7 million following tax hikes but has since stabilised at Rs 9.2 million.

Xpeng G6
The Xpeng G6 is a Chinese electric SUV that rivals Tesla’s Model Y in global markets. It is built on the advanced SEPA 2.0 platform with 800-volt architecture, and features a 66 kWh battery and a 190 kW motor.

The G6 supports ultra-fast charging up to 480 kW and comes equipped with the XNGP Intelligent Assist Driving System which uses sensors, LiDAR and cameras for advanced driver assistance. The interior features a 10.2-inch digital cluster, a 15-inch infotainment screen and a heat pump-based climate control system.

Imported by CG Motors in Nepal, the Xpeng G6 is priced at Rs 8.49 million.

Zeekr X
Zeekr X is a performance-oriented SUV from Chinese automaker Geely. It features a 200 kW motor, rear-wheel drive and a 66 kWh battery, offering a WLTP-certified range of 440 km.

The Zeekr X sports a sharp, modern design with double-edge daytime running lights and a distinctive tail section. Its cabin features a smart cockpit with dual-tone dashboards, ambient lighting, and a large touchscreen for the infotainment system.

Sold by Pioneer MotoCorp in Nepal, the Zeekr X can be driven home for Rs 8.49 million.
