KATHMANDU: Volkswagen has revealed the India-spec Tayron R-Line ahead of its market launch. The new SUV will be positioned above the Tiguan R-Line in Volkswagen India’s lineup.
The Tayron R-Line will be brought to India via the CKD route. It is a seven-seat SUV and is based on Volkswagen’s MQB EVO platform.
The R-Line variant features a sporty front design with a large grille and LED headlamps connected by a full-width LED light bar. At the rear, the SUV gets LED taillights linked by a slim light strip. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and features illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear.
Inside, the Tayron R-Line gets a three-spoke sporty steering wheel and a fully digital instrument cluster. A 15-inch central touchscreen is standard.
Other features include multi-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a massage function for the front seats.
For India, the Tayron R-Line is expected to use the same 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine as the Tiguan R-Line. The engine produces 201 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.
Power is sent through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A four-wheel-drive system is also expected to be standard.
Volkswagen is expected to announce pricing and launch details closer to the market introduction.
