KATHMANDU: When Mahindra, which has earned the tag of SUV specialist in India, unveiled the concept of its new electric SUV, the BE 6, a few years ago, many doubted whether such a design could ever make it to production.
The main reason for that skepticism was the car’s radical and futuristic design. The BE 6 concept, which blended elements of a sports car and an SUV, looked more like a stylish toy car than something road-ready.
The BE 6 has officially gone on sale in Nepal now. At first glance, the car exudes a handcrafted touch, reflecting Mahindra’s success in turning the concept into a production model without losing its originality.
Built on Mahindra’s new INGLO electric architecture, the BE 6 rivals the design standards of European and Chinese automakers. The vehicle generated buzz in Nepal as soon as it launched in India, thanks to its futuristic styling, strong performance and cutting-edge features.
Agni Incorporated, the authorized Mahindra distributor in Nepal, showcased the car in the domestic market only after completing over 10,000 kilometers of road testing. The car officially went on sale following its launch at the NADA Nepal Mobility Expo in the first week of August.

Design
The BE 6’s design is striking at first sight. Its bold, futuristic exterior ensures it grabs attention wherever it goes. It has the look of a sports car from the front, while the rear styling leans toward an SUV profile. This is exactly what young buyers look for these days.
Distinctive touches include LED DRLs, large alloy wheels, flush door handles, a dual rear spoiler and a sleek taillight setup.
Technology
Mahindra has packed the BE 6 with advanced technology. The cockpit features dual digital displays, an augmented-reality head-up display, a premium infotainment system and a high-end Royal Opera House–tuned sound system.
It has Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags and a 360-degree camera, which make it one of the most tech-forward EVs in its segment.
Performance and Range
Equipped with a multi-link rear suspension, the BE 6 is designed to deliver a comfortable ride even on rough roads. Its 59 kWh battery provides a range of at least 400 kilometers. With support for DC fast charging of up to 175 kW, the car can be charged from 20% to 80% in just about 20 minutes.
Conclusion
Despite its strengths, the BE 6 has a few drawbacks. Its coupe-crossover design results in limited rear headroom and visibility from all seats is somewhat restricted compared to traditional SUVs.
However, visitors at the expo praised its design and 207 mm ground clearance. How it performs in the Nepali market will become clearer in the coming months.
