KATHMANDU: Renault is working on a new sub-4 meter compact SUV that will sit below the upcoming Duster. The new model is expected to be sold alongside the Renault Kiger and could arrive in the Indian market around 2027-28.
According to a report by Autocar India, the new SUV is internally referred to as a “mini Duster.” While the Kiger follows a crossover-style design, the upcoming model is expected to feature a more rugged look with an upright stance and a boxy silhouette.
Renault is preparing to launch the new-generation Duster in India and is also planning a seven-seat SUV based on the same platform. The sub-4 meter SUV is expected to further expand Renault’s SUV lineup in the country.
Power is likely to come from the same 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine currently used in the Kiger. It is expected to be offered with both manual and CVT gearbox options.
If launched, the mini Duster will compete in India’s crowded compact SUV segment, where demand for rugged and practical models continues to grow.
