KATHMANDU: Proton’s new compact electric SUV, the e.MAS 5, is now available for booking in Nepal.
Jagdamba Motors, the official distributor of Proton vehicles in Nepal, announced the start of bookings through its social media channels. The company is expected to launch the EV in the Nepali market within the next few days.

Customers who book the vehicle early will be eligible for a special introductory offer, although the company has not yet announced the official price. Industry sources expect the Proton e.MAS 5 to be priced between Rs 3.0 million and Rs 3.5 million.
The e.MAS 5 is expected to be offered in two variants. The entry-level model uses a 58 kW rear-mounted electric motor with 130 Nm of torque, while the higher variant comes with an 85 kW motor producing 150 Nm.

Battery options include 30.12 kWh and 40.16 kWh LFP packs. They offer a WLTP-certified driving range of 225 km and 325 km, respectively.
The EV supports 6.6 kW AC charging and DC fast charging up to 71 kW on the higher variant. Using a compatible DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in around 21 minutes.
The Proton e.MAS 5 is a rebadged version of the Geely Geome Xingyuan built in China. It measures 4,135 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, 1,580 mm in height, and has a 2,650 mm wheelbase.

Inside, the cabin features an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a multifunction steering wheel, and either a 10.1-inch or 14.6-inch infotainment display, depending on the variant. Other highlights include wireless phone charging, customizable ambient lighting, keyless entry, and smartphone connectivity.
For safety, the e.MAS 5 comes equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS suite that includes multiple driver assistance features.
