KATHMANDU: Hyundai’s flagship electric SUV, the IONIQ 9, has officially arrived in Nepal. The three-row electric SUV has been brought by Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of Hyundai in Nepal.

The company has yet to announce the official price of the IONIQ 9 in Nepal. According to the distributor, the government’s revised EV customs valuation method has increased the expected price compared to the initial estimate. This means Hyundai’s flagship electric SUV is likely to enter the market with a premium price tag.

The IONIQ 9 is Hyundai’s largest and most premium electric SUV. It has already gained strong response in markets such as the US and Europe for its long driving range, spacious three-row cabin, advanced technology and ultra-fast charging capability.

Competing with global brands including Tesla, Kia and Rivian, the SUV has earned praise for offering a well-balanced package of performance, practicality and premium features. Its roomy interior, comfortable third-row seating and feature-rich digital cabin have been among its biggest highlights.

Built on Hyundai’s dedicated E-GMP electric platform, the IONIQ 9 uses an 800-volt electrical architecture, offering better charging performance and improved efficiency. It comes with a 110.3 kWh battery pack, which delivers a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 620 km in the Long Range RWD variant.

One of its biggest highlights is ultra-fast charging. Using a 350 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in around 24 minutes under ideal conditions.

The SUV is available in multiple powertrain options, including RWD and AWD variants. Hyundai also offers a higher-performance AWD version with dual 160 kW motors.

In terms of design, the IONIQ 9 follows Hyundai’s latest aerodynamic styling with signature Parametric Pixel LED lighting, flush body surfaces and a clean, modern look.

Inside, the SUV offers a premium seven-seat cabin with dual 12.3-inch panoramic displays, a digital cockpit, premium interior materials, multi-zone climate control, OTA software updates, Digital Key, a 360-degree camera and Hyundai’s latest ADAS.
