KATHMANDU: BYD’s new SUV, the Atto 2, is drawing strong interest from buyers after bookings opened. The model, unveiled at the NADA Auto Show 2025, quickly became the festival’s best-selling SUV.

Several factors have contributed to its success, including pricing, features, body design, and BYD’s trusted brand name.

One big reason for its popularity in Nepal is its 200 mm ground clearance, which fits local roads well. The bigger 51 kWh Blade Battery has also drawn attention. It has a 100 kW motor with 290 Nm torque and offers a range of 345 km on a single charge, making it a practical SUV for daily use.

The SUV’s global design, sharp LED headlamps, and bold front look add to its appeal.

In terms of pricing, the Atto 2 offers strong value. It is Rs 1.29 million cheaper than the BYD Atto 3 Advance, with a starting price of Rs 4.39 million.

For those buying on installments, the monthly payment is around Rs 40,000. Banks are offering auto loans at 7 percent interest for up to seven years. Buyers need to pay about Rs 1.76 million as a 40 percent down payment, while the remaining Rs 2.64 million can be covered through a bank loan.

If interest rates change, the monthly installment amount may rise or fall accordingly.

Cimex, the official BYD distributor in Nepal, has strengthened the popularity of the Atto 2 with reliable after-sales support. The company runs over 13 service centers and is expanding its sales and charging network across the country, giving customers more confidence.

The Atto 2’s warranty is also a key highlight. It offers 10 years or 200,000 km coverage for the battery and drive unit, and 7.5 years or 187,500 km for other parts, making it one of the most reassuring options in its segment.
