KATHMANDU: The much-anticipated Nammi 06, a new compact electric SUV from China’s Dongfeng Motor, is set to hit the Nepali market this August.
The car will be displayed during the 2025 NADA Auto Show in Kathmandu. MAW Vriddhi, the authorized distributor of Dongfeng in Nepal, plans to open bookings for the car during the Auto Show itself.
Unveiled in China in April, the Nammi 06 is built on a dedicated pure EV platform and comes with two battery options—44.9 kWh and 51.87 kWh—delivering a range of around 350 km. The car is 4306 mm long, 1868 mm wide and 1645 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2715 mm.
The Nammi 06 is expected to challenge popular models in the segment, such as the Kia K3 Pro, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta, BYD Atto 3 Advanced, Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400. Dongfeng’s decision to launch the vehicle with a 99 kW motor in Nepal (compared to the 135 kW variant available in the global market) is likely to make Nammi 06 competitive in the crowded segment.
Feature-loaded SUV
The Nammi 06 comes loaded with several attractive features. The car has an attractive T-shaped LED headlamp design, split tailgate, 12.8-inch infotainment system, 8.8-inch digital cluster, wireless charger, ventilated and massage seats, ADAS features, panoramic sunroof, foldable rear seats, ambient lighting with 128 color options, two-spoke steering wheel, and a minimalist cabin with leather upholstery.
Although VAW Vriddhi has not revealed the price, industry people suggest the top variant may be priced below Rs 5 million. If the car is indeed priced below Rs 5 million, it is certain to disrupt the market with its value-for-money proposition.
Backed by MAW’s growing EV infrastructure
The SUV’s arrival in the Nepali market follows the success of the Nammi 01 hatchback, which has already helped establish Dongfeng and Nammi as recognisable EV brands in the country.
The Nammi 06 will benefit from Dongfeng’s partnership with MAW Group, one of the oldest automobile business houses in the country. MAW Vriddhi has built a network of over 100 charging stations across Nepal and full 3S (sales, service, spares) facilities in major cities. This nationwide network is expected to support strong after-sales service and boost customer confidence.
