KATHMANDU: Honda has introduced two new motorcycles in the 100cc and 125cc categories in India. The Honda Shine 100 DX and Honda CB125 Hornet will go on sale starting next month and are expected to be competitively priced.
The Japanese company says both bikes are designed for excellent fuel efficiency. With modern technology, stylish graphics, and a sporty, youth-focused design, both bikes aim to appeal to budget-conscious riders.
The CB125 Hornet, a smaller version of Honda’s popular Hornet series, is generating a lot of buzz for its youth-oriented styling. It features full LED lighting, a 4.2-inch TFT instrument console with turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, music controls, and a USB charging port. Other standout features in the mini Hornet include a disc brake, single-channel ABS, alloy wheels, flat tires, split seats, riding posture optimized for performance, golden-colored USD front forks (a segment first) and a monoshock rear suspension setup.
The CB125 Hornet will primarily compete with the Hero Xtreme 125R and TVS Raider 125, while the Shine 100 DX is positioned against the popular Hero Splendor.
Built on a lightweight diamond-type frame, the 125cc Hornet is powered by a 123.94cc single-cylinder FI engine that delivers 11 hp and 11.2 Nm of torque. It comes with a 5-speed gearbox and can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.

The Shine 100 DX features a refreshed digital instrument console, an LED headlamp and tail lamp, an aerodynamic front cowl, a new aero-type fuel cap and a larger fuel tank. Chrome accents on the handlebar, brake pedal, gear pedal, grab rail and muffler cover add to the bike’s styling. It includes drum brakes on both wheels and comes with tubeless tires, alloy wheels and a 5-step adjustable twin rear shock absorber for enhanced comfort.
The Shine 100 DX is powered by a 98.98cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke SI engine producing 7.38 PS of power and 8.04 Nm of torque, paired with a 4-speed gearbox. The bike is equipped with eSP technology, PGM-FI system, and an ACG start motor, designed to improve engine efficiency and reduce emissions, according to the company.
According to Indian media reports, the CB125 Hornet will primarily compete with the Hero Xtreme 125R and TVS Raider 125, while the Shine 100 DX is positioned against the popular Hero Splendor.
Since most of the Honda products are available in Nepal, Syakar Trading Pvt Ltd, the authorized Honda distributor in Nepal, is expected to bring these two products to Nepal soon after their launch.
