KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has directed the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA) to stop the special general meeting scheduled for September 9.
In a letter sent to NADA on September 1, the local administration ordered NADA to stop its special general meeting, citing a complaint that the meeting had been convened illegally..
The DAO Kathmandu has also sought clarification from NADA on why the special general meeting was announced without first holding the annual general meeting as required by its statute and why repeated discussions on resolving the dispute have failed.
The local administration has directed NADA to appear at its office within seven days, along with the decisions related to the convening of the special general meeting.
“What are the reasons for holding a special general meeting without calling the annual general meeting as per the statute? Despite repeated discussions at the District Administration Office regarding the amendment of the statute, why has the dispute not been resolved? You are requested to appear at this office within seven days with the relevant decisions and to postpone the special general meeting scheduled as per your earlier decision,” the letter sent to NADA states.

Disputes began immediately after that meeting. Some members opposed the move, even tearing up the minutes in protest, arguing that no such meeting should be called. The situation escalated to physical confrontation.
Following the incident, NADA demanded a written explanation within three days from the member who tore the meeting minutes.
Internal disputes within NADA had been simmering since the election of the current executive committee. Tensions escalated further when President Karan Chaudhary reduced Vice President Akash Golchha to the role of an ordinary member.
