KATHMANDU: KTM is preparing a new entry-level supersport, the RC 160, positioned directly against the Yamaha R15. The bike, which has been in development for some time, was recently spotted testing on public roads in India by ZigWheels.
The test mule shows a sharp, fully-faired design with a signature KTM-style headlamp, a two-piece stepped seat, and a slim tail section. The clip-on handlebars and rear-set foot pegs indicate a sporty riding posture.
The bike was also seen running on black alloy wheels and fitted with a digital instrument cluster.
Powering the RC 160 is expected to be a 164cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine delivering around 19 BHP and 15.5 Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
The RC 160 is likely to sit below the RC 200 in KTM’s lineup and will compete directly with the Yamaha R15 once launched.
