KATHMANDU: The all-new Renault Duster has been officially launched in India, with prices starting at 1.049 million Indian rupees (ex-showroom).

Renault has confirmed strong initial demand, stating that 91 percent of pre-bookings are for the turbo-petrol variants.

Built on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP), the new Duster is offered in five trims – Authentic, Evolution, Techno, Techno+ and Iconic. The SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and offers 212 mm of ground clearance, underlining its rugged appeal.

In terms of design, the Duster retains its signature tough stance with muscular wheel arches, all-around cladding and a bold front fascia. It features LED headlights with DRLs, a chunky bumper with silver accents and a prominent grille with ‘Duster’ branding. At the rear, it gets distinctive triangular LED tail lamps connected by a light bar and a roof spoiler.

Inside, the cabin has been significantly upgraded with dual screens, including a digital instrument cluster and a central touchscreen. Key features include ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake and Level 2 ADAS with functions like adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.

Under the hood, the SUV offers multiple engine options. The base variant comes with a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 99 BHP and 160 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual. Higher variants get a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol unit delivering 161 BHP and 280 Nm, available with manual and dual-clutch automatic transmissions.

Renault has also announced a strong-hybrid version, which will be introduced later this year. The hybrid combines a 1.8-liter petrol engine with an electric motor and a 1.4 kWh battery, producing a combined 158 BHP.

However, the company says initial production of the hybrid variant is already fully booked.
