KATHMANDU: Suzuki Motor Corporation has launched a new range of vegetarian, ready-to-eat Indian curries in Japan in partnership with Japanese restaurant group Torizen.

The product line features four recipes, each packaged with illustrations of Suzuki vehicles, and is now available through the company’s official Japanese online store, Top Gear writes.

According to Suzuki, the idea originated inside its Hamamatsu headquarters in early 2024, where Torizen’s Indian meals were first served in the company cafeteria. The dishes gained strong staff approval, prompting Suzuki to commercialize them in retail form.

Each 180-gram pack is priced at Rs. 848 (¥918 in Japan). The four flavors are:

  1. Brown Chickpea Masala – Jimny themed
  2. Tomato Lentil Dahl – Swift themed
  3. Daikon Sambal – Hayabusa themed
  4. Green Vegetable Moong Dal – V-Strom 1050 DE themed

Suzuki said the initiative aims to highlight Indian culture in Japan, noting that several models sold domestically, such as the Jimny 5-Door, Fronx, and Baleno, are exported from India.

The packaging also features a connecting design that forms a complete illustration when customers purchase the full set.

Torizen CEO Yoshitaka Date stated that the dishes were created “with gratitude and love for overseas talent, including India,” underscoring the cultural exchange behind the project.

Suzuki has indicated that additional curry flavors and vehicle-themed designs may be introduced in the future as the collaboration expands.
