KATHMANDU: Toyota’s new electric sedan, the bZ7, has started appearing at dealerships in China. The official market launch is planned for early 2026.

The model follows the bZ3X concept shown at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show and is part of Toyota’s effort to build EVs especially for China.

The bZ7 is a mid- to large-size electric sedan. The expected price is around USD 28,288. It is longer and wider than rivals like the Xiaomi SU7, Xpeng P7 series, and BYD Han EV.

The design looks modern and smooth. It has a sloping roof, frameless doors, and hidden-style door handles. A LiDAR sensor sits on the roof for advanced driving assists. At the front, it uses Toyota’s newest closed grille design with sharp LED lights. The rear gets a full-width LED light bar and a small spoiler. Buyers can choose from seven exterior colors.

Inside, the cabin is clean and high-tech. It features a floating touchscreen, a digital driver display, and a head-up display. The system runs HarmonyOS 5.0 and supports Xiaomi’s smart device ecosystem.

The interior offers three color themes. There is wood-style trim and leather surfaces. A wireless charger and a cooled and heated storage box are included. All four seats offer heating, ventilation, and massage. The front passenger seat also has a zero-gravity mode for extra comfort. A Yamaha sound system and a split panoramic sunroof are standard.

The bZ7 uses a Huawei DriveONE electric motor. It produces 207 kW of power. Two battery options are available: 71.35 kWh and 88.13 kWh. The claimed driving range is 600 km to 710 km (CLTC).

The car uses air suspension with adaptive dampers. Toyota’s performance team helped tune the ride and handling.

For now, the Toyota bZ7 is only planned for the Chinese market. There are no official plans for a global release. The model shows how Toyota is working closely with local Chinese tech companies to compete in the fast-growing EV market.
