KATHMANDU: Two new Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brands are entering the Nepali market through the upcoming NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025.
IM Motors and Dongfeng Forthing are launching their debut models in the Nepal Mobility Expo that kicks off in Kathmandu on August 6.

IM is a premium electric brand of Chinese automobile behemoth SAIC Motor, while Forthing is a sub-brand of another Chinese giant Dongfeng Motor Corporation. Both brands are introducing their models in the SUV segment.
IM Motors is introducing the IM 6 SUV. Known for its futuristic design, luxury appeal and advanced tech features, the IM 6 has already garnered attention in the Nepali market. Around 10 units of IM 6 are already on the Nepali roads.

Paramount Motors, which also distributes MG vehicles in Nepal, is importing IM cars. According to the company, IM cars will also be distributed through MG showrooms. The company has yet to make pricing and other details of the car public.
Laxmi E-Mobility is launching the Friday model of the Dongfeng Forthing in the Nepali market. Friday is a compact electric SUV positioned for the mid-range segment.

The company aims to compete aggressively in Nepal’s growing mid-range segment with this offering. It has also not disclosed pricing and other details about the car.
Both models are built on pure electric platforms and are expected to offer a range of over 400 kilometers. The cars are expected to be priced between Rs 6 million and Rs 8 million.
Although these new EV brands are backed by two of Nepal’s established automotive business groups, it may take several months for these brands to make an impact in the market.
