KATHMANDU: Vietnamese automaker VinFast is making a new mini electric vehicle (EV) in India to compete with the MG Comet.
VinFast will produce the Minio Green at its plant in Tamil Nadu. The company has already filed a patent for the vehicle in India.
The Minio Green is currently sold in Vietnam for commercial use in fleet and taxi services. However, it will be marketed in India as a multi-use model. Measuring just over 3.09 meters in length, the car is around 116 mm longer than the MG Comet and will feature a three-door configuration.
In Vietnam, the car features a small bonnet, circular wheel arches, 13-inch wheels and conventional door handles. At the rear, it comes with a shark-fin antenna, flat windscreen, and vertically stacked tail lamps. The dashboard has a single screen serving both infotainment and driver information functions.

VinFast has already appointed Advance Automobiles as its authorized distributor in Nepal.
The cabin follows a minimalist design, prioritizing space, comfort and practicality. It has a rotary gear dial, physical control buttons, a two-spoke sporty steering wheel and a four-way adjustable driver’s seat. It also has safety features like ABS and traction control.
The car is powered by a 20 kW rear-wheel-drive motor producing 27 PS and 65 Nm of torque, paired with a 14.7 kWh battery pack. It offers a range of 170 km and can reach a top speed of 80 km/h.
VinFast aims to produce 150,000 vehicles annually at its Tamil Nadu plant. Along with Minio Green, it will also produce the VF 6 and the VF 7 models at the plant. It has also registered a patent for the seven-seat SUV named Limo Green in India.
Minio Green is also expected to come to Nepal. VinFast has already appointed Advance Automobiles as its authorized distributor in Nepal.
