KATHMANDU: Renault has unveiled the third-generation Duster for the Indian market, marking the return of the iconic nameplate after a long gap. First launched in India in 2012, the Duster played a key role in shaping the mid-size SUV segment.
The new model is aimed at rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Pre-bookings are currently open in India, while official prices will be announced in March 2026.

The India-spec Renault Duster will be offered only with petrol powertrains. There will be no diesel engine or AWD option. Engine choices include a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol producing 163hp and 280Nm, a smaller 1.0-liter turbo-petrol unit, and a 1.8-liter strong-hybrid ICE engine with dual electric motors.
The hybrid version is expected to launch around Diwali 2026 and will compete with models like the Grand Vitara Hybrid and Toyota Hyryder.
In terms of design, the SUV retains the overall shape of the global model but gets India-specific updates. These include new headlights with eyebrow-style LED DRLs, a revised grille with Duster badging, a silver-accented front bumper, and pixel-style fog lamps.
Black body cladding, C-pillar-mounted rear door handles, and functional roof rails add to its rugged appeal. At the rear, an LED light bar connects the taillights, a feature not seen on the global version.

Inside, the cabin closely follows the global layout and uses leatherette on the seats, dashboard, and door panels. Features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and ventilated, powered front seats.

Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, TPMS, and Level 2 ADAS. This makes the new Duster the first Renault in India to offer ADAS technology.
