KATHMANDU: Paramount Motors has increased the price of the MG S6 electric SUV following the government’s recent tax revision on EVs.
The MG S6 was launched in Nepal only last month at a starting price of Rs 6.999 million. The company has now revised the price upward, with the increase expected to range between Rs 200,000 and Rs 400,000. Customers visiting MG showrooms are already being offered bookings at the updated price.
The latest budget has introduced changes in the EV tax structure, resulting in a higher overall tax burden on the MG S6. The SUV’s price is expected to rise by up to 7 percent under the new taxation system.

Despite the increase, the MG S6 remains competitively priced in its segment. The SUV competes in a category where prices generally range from around Rs 8.5 million to over Rs 10 million.
Previously, the MG S6 was subject to 30 percent customs duty, 20 percent excise duty and 5 percent road construction tax. Under the new structure, it falls into a category with 20 percent customs duty, 35 percent clean energy tax and 5 percent road construction tax.
The MG S6 is a 4.7-metre-long electric SUV powered by a 180 kW electric motor, making it one of the most powerful models in its segment.
Range is another key highlight of the SUV. It comes equipped with a 77 kWh NMC battery pack, offering a WLTP-certified range of 530 kilometres on a single charge.

The SUV supports DC fast charging of up to 144 kW. According to the company, the battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 38 minutes.
Inside the cabin, the MG S6 shares several design elements with the MG 5. It features a 12.8-inch infotainment screen, 11-speaker audio system, heated seats, panoramic sunroof and a front frunk.
The SUV also offers several advanced technology features, including adjustable regenerative braking, one-pedal driving and the optional Rain Night Mode first seen on the IM6.
