KATHMANDU: Preparations for two major auto shows are in the final stage, as both organizing bodies move ahead with stall allocation. Once finalized, participating companies will fully shift focus to event readiness.

Last year, NAIMA and NADA organized separate auto shows at the same venue but at different times. NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo was held from August 6, 2025 at Bhrikutimandap. Shortly after, NADA Auto Show 2025 began on August 19 at the same location.

Both events mainly aim to showcase and sell vehicles. During the shows, daily booking numbers are widely promoted in the media.

NAIMA represents vehicle importers. It does not include importers of auto parts and related products. In contrast, NADA is a long-established organization with over 50 years of history. It includes a wide range of automobile businesses and has a nationwide presence.

Brand participation divided

NAIMA organized its first Mobility Expo in 2025 with participation from its member brands. These include Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Omoda, Jaecoo, iCAUR, MG, IM Motors, Mahindra, Honda, Proton, and others. Most of these brands are expected to return this year.

On the other hand, NADA Auto Show will feature brands such as Tata, Suzuki, Skoda, Deepal, Nammi, Avatr, Aion, Xpeng, Dongfeng (Dyun), Riddara, and Geely.

NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 will be held from August 11 to 16 (Shrawan 26-31) at Bhrikutimandap. Along with returning brands, a few new entrants are also expected this year.

Motorcycle brands are also split between the two events. Yamaha and Hero will participate in NADA Auto Show. Honda, Bajaj, and TVS will join NAIMA Expo. Royal Enfield is likely to participate in both.

Around 55 stalls are expected at the NAIMA Expo. Banks and insurance companies will also have a presence this year.

NADA Auto Show 2026 will take place from August 25 to 30 (Bhadra 9-14), again at Bhrikutimandap. The event will include new brands along with most existing participants. In addition to passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles, components, and Made-in-Nepal products will also be displayed.

With both auto shows scheduled before Dashain, Kathmandu will host two major automotive events in a short period. Dozens of new models are likely to be unveiled. Visitors will get an opportunity to explore multiple brands under one roof.
