Nepal’s three cheapest motorcycles compared: which offers better value?

KATHMANDU: More than 100 motorcycle models from over a dozen brands are available in Nepal. These range from basic commuters to premium adventure and cruiser bikes. Among them, entry-level commuter motorcycles remain the most affordable.

Motorcycles priced between Rs. 200,000 and Rs. 250,000 mostly fall into the 100cc commuter segment. These bikes are popular in the Terai region. Sales are slower in urban and hilly areas. However, their mileage and reliability remain key strengths.

Imports of 100cc motorcycles are rising. Compared to 2024, imports increased by 47 percent in 2025. Imports grew from 4,400 units in 2024 to 6,473 units in 2025. Bajaj, Hero, TVS, and Suzuki are active in this segment.

Here are the three cheapest motorcycles currently available in Nepal, all priced under Rs. 250,000.

  1. Bajaj Platina

Bajaj Platina is the best-selling motorcycle in this segment. It held a 42 percent market share in 2025. In Nepal, Hansraj Hulashchand & Company sells the Platina at Rs. 216,900. The motorcycle is assembled locally.

It uses a 99.5cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. Power output is 7.9 PS with 8.3 Nm of torque. Claimed mileage is up to 97 km/l.

Key features include telescopic front forks, SNS rear suspension, tubeless tires, alloy wheels, electric start, long seat, LED DRL, and standard braking.

  1. TVS Radeon

TVS Radeon is the second best-selling 100cc motorcycle in Nepal. Jagdamba Motors prices it at Rs. 229,900. It is also assembled in Nepal. Radeon comes with a 110cc engine. It produces 8.30 PS of power and 8.70 Nm of torque. Claimed mileage is 69 km/l.

Features include a single cradle frame, telescopic front suspension, 5-step adjustable rear shocks, SBS braking, tubeless tires, alloy wheels, LED DRL, reverse LCD cluster, charging port, and a large seat.

  1. Hero Splendor Plus

Hero Splendor Plus remains a well-known name in Nepal. Around 1,500 units are sold annually. CG Motors prices it at Rs. 217,900. It is powered by a 97.2cc, single-cylinder OHC engine. The engine delivers 8.36 PS and 8.5 Nm. Claimed mileage is over 90 km/l.

The motorcycle features a double cradle frame, hydraulic suspension, tubeless tires, drum brakes, i3S technology, AHO headlamp, alloy wheels, and an analog instrument cluster.

Finally

Bajaj Platina is the cheapest among the three, while TVS Radeon is the most expensive. In terms of mileage, Platina and Splendor Plus offer better efficiency. All three motorcycles come with similar features.

The final choice depends on your budget, mileage needs, and trust in the brand.
