KATHMANDU: Four traffic police personnel have been suspended after a video of them assaulting a civilian went viral on social media on Thursday.
The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has confirmed that four personnel stationed at the Janasewa Traffic Police Division, New Road, have been removed from duty and summoned to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office for further investigation.
In the video shared widely on social media, four personnel can be seen surrounding a man, with one kicking a helpless man in the face, while also throwing his documents. Although only one officer was involved in the attack, the other three did not try to prevent him from assaulting the man.
Deepak Giri, the spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, said the suspension is a part of the disciplinary action taken in response to the incident.
