GWM Nepal debuts TANK series SUVs

KATHMANDU: Great Wall Motors (GWM) Nepal has introduced its premium off-road brand TANK in the local market. The debut took place at the first NAIMA Mobility Expo 2025 in Kathmandu.

At the show, GWM Nepal introduced two models from its TANK series.

The TANK 500 is a luxury 7-seater with a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) system, while the TANK 300 is a 5-seater with a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) setup.

Both SUVs are equipped with a 2.0L turbo petrol engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission (HI4-T). The TANK 300 delivers 351 PS of power and 648 Nm of torque, whereas the TANK 500 offers a higher output of 408 PS and 750 Nm.

The brand was first unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show in 2021 and launched in China in 2022. It has since expanded to Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, South Africa and New Zealand.

Nearly 400,000 units have been sold worldwide, with an 87.59% year-on-year growth.

According to GWM, the name TANK represents “Technology,” “Trend,” “User” and “United.” The brand focuses on advanced engineering and user experience.

In Nepal, the introductory price of the TANK 300 HEV is Rs 16 million. The TANK 500 PHEV is priced at Rs 21.6 million.

GWM says the TANK lineup combines strength, comfort and innovation, aiming to set a new benchmark for premium off-road vehicles in the country.
