KATHMANDU: Tesla has introduced the Model 3 Long Range in China. It is the longest-range car in the company’s current lineup. Earlier, it was known as the Model 3+.
This isn’t a special version of the Model 3 built from the ground up. It is the first in China to use a 78.4 kWh NMC battery from LG. The electric motor produces 302 BHP, compared to the 260 BHP in the regular Model 3.
The car offers a CLTC range of up to 830 km on a single charge. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. The CLTC test cycle often shows higher range than the WLTP standard used in other markets. This is because it reflects driving in crowded Chinese cities with frequent stops and regenerative braking.
If launched outside China, the WLTP range figure would be lower. The Model 3 Long Range is priced at USD 37,100 in China.
