KATHMANDU: The Indian state of Maharashtra will soon enforce the ‘No PUC (Pollution Under Control), No Fuel’ rule, as confirmed by the State Transport Minister.

As per the rule, vehicles without a valid pollution certificate will not be allowed to refuel at petrol stations. CCTV cameras at fuel pumps will scan vehicle numbers to check the certificate status. If it is invalid, fuel will be denied and the certificate will be canceled immediately.

The government also plans to make pollution certificates available at vehicle showrooms in the coming days.

The policy is expected to be tabled for final approval soon, with implementation likely to begin in the next few months.
